18 Mar Updated: The “What Do You Want Me To Do Next” Post: Top 10 update

Fil’s Update as of Fri March 18th: Shooting of the first tutorial officially begins. Today will be the day of the Back in Black  tutorial.

Rhythm and Solo.

Thanks for voting! I plan on doing a few of these before I leave for a two weeks long trip. I will try to leave you with a bunch of hopefully tutorials to work on.

Love,

Fil 🙂

Top 10 Update as per March 07 by Banane

1. Back in Black
2. You Shook Me All Night Long
3. Hells Bells
4. Highway To Hell
5. If You Want Blood
6. Whole lotta Rosie
7. Down payment blues (8 and most votes)
8. Stiff upper lip (8 votes, same as No. 7, had to throw a coin)
9. Ballbreaker (8 votes)
10. Rock’n Roll ain’t noise pollution (7 votes)

Not so much changes in the last week. Ballbreaker got one more vote, so Rock’n Roll ain’t noise pollution went from 9. to 10. Beating around the Bush got 2 more votes, so the next ones after Rock’n Roll ain’t noise pollution are now: Beating around the Bush (5 votes),  Bad Boy Boogie (5 votes).  All other songs got only 4 votes and below.
We had also request for songs from other bands like Peter Green, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Boston, Free, Bad Company, Foreigner, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith. Maybe Fil is somday in a mood to play them 🙂

Have a nice week!

Because believe it or not, I am consumed often in trying to understand what you folks would want me to do the most:

– Tutorials. If so, which ones?

– More video performances (with tone details, etc.)

– Other?

I often find myself in my laboratory trying different things, even shooting tutorials but then discarding them.

Help out your “sd.net” staff 😛

Update (from Banane/Franz):

We have now a mail address where all members can submit votes for a Tutorial of their favourite song. Most of us certainly want AC/DC songs, but Fil stated already that he would do other classic rock songs too.

Voting rules:

-We have a top ten wishlist which I will maintain.

-Votes are done with a email to covervotings@exception.at with your wishlist. Your email adresses will be kept strictly private.

-Only one vote per email adress is counted until FIl publishes a new tutorial (usually the number one of the top ten).

-You can vote for as much songs as you like.

-I will update this posting with the current voting statistics (what songs, how much votes) on a regular basis, at least one time per week.

Our Initial Top Ten:

1. Back in Black
2. You Shook Me All Night Long
3. Hells Bells
4. Highway To Hell
5. If You Want Blood
6. Whole lotta Rosie
7. open for your votes
8. open for your votes
9. open for your votes
10. open for your votes

Currently there are 4 voting mails received, so go on now and blast this mail box 🙂

Hi SD im just wondering, do you still have to tutorial for the ‘if you want blood solo’ as i cant seem to find on here?

I just wanted to try and play it again, I came up with my own method to play the fast bits, if I could see how you play the licks, then ill play them slowly and keep playing them slowly until I can do it to the tempo they are played on the song.

    thanks 🙂

I would really like some old Status Quo, ZZ Top and other classic Rock tunes to be covered by Fil. Maybe Blue Oyster Cult, Buchman Turner Overdrive and Creedence Clearwater Revival too….all the good old stuff !

Fil, could you do vibrato tutorial in future?
It’s the hardest thing to get it right. You can show ring finger and the next one bend vibrato thing, it’s sick, but also middle finger or index finger vibrato, you know, just technique and maybe explanation of the amplitude, speed etc. of vibrato ( yours, Angus’)Please it would be so,so great!!! 🙂

One tune I was trying to learn the other day was Can I Sit Next To You. There are definitely some interesting rolling riffs in that song. Also, I remember trying the solo for Walk All Over You a few years ago but put it on the back burner for a while. I think I’m ready to tackle it again and a tutorial for that would be awesome! Another one would be the main riff in Beating Around The Bush. I can “basically” do it but some insight into how to get the picking right and how to fit all those notes in without stumbling over, half muting or duffing some of them would be oh so very much appreciated!
    Thanks again!

    Hey!
I’m with toto2000 on Beating Around The Bush! I’ve been trying to get that riff right for a while now and kind of have it but there’s…just something… WRONG with how I do it! lol
Also, the leads in it are crazy! Anyway… I’m pretty new to this site and just want to say that I think it’s awesome! AC/DC’s music makes me feel like no other music does and since I got my brand spankin’ new SG Standard I can’t stop jamming to it! Just have to order my Angus Young signature pickup now. I’ve learned a lot from your youtube vids and this site so far, you know… all those little parts of my favorite tunes that I just never could get right before… I’m lovin’ learning those Boston tunes too!
    Thanks again!

I’d like to hear Fil do Brian May and some the more obscure, but talented, artists of the 80s. Also Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ritchie Blackmore, Robin Trower, Robert Fripp, David Gilmour, Tony Iommi. It’s like him channeling their young souls out of their old, nearly dead bodies.
