18 Sep The Metro Session: Marshall 1987XL Bray-Modded and “The Husk”
Intermission: Marshall playing now.
More on this guitar: “The Husk”
Note: should anyone being interested in why during playing I’ll go the amp and change a setting, reason was, I had left presence to 10. I put it back to 0 and reverted playing. Later on, I’ll go back to the amp and re-set presence at 10 for woman tone.

Posted at 20:07h, 13 DecemberAn awesome sounding amp, really vintage but powerful i think. Is this plexi an original or a reissue from the late 60’s?

Posted at 18:07h, 18 Septemberhey how are you?
I have a couple of questions first, do you own this place you’re playing in? and, what is woman tone? I’ve heard that expression numerous times.

Posted at 07:06h, 19 SeptemberWoman tone is where you roll of all of the tone on your guitar using either the middle or neck position, but have pretty much everything else on full. If you listen to white room by Cream you’ll hear it when Clapton’s soloing.

Posted at 17:13h, 18 SeptemberThis video is terrific again Phil! Bello! Magnifico, fantastico!!! 😀 It seems for me that this amp sounds a little bit more agressive. The Metro sounds more sweeter, softer and a little bit finer. Again 10/10! 😀 Keep them coming! 😀

Posted at 14:11h, 18 SeptemberI don’t know.
This marshall does sound like you would expect from a marshall of that era.
To my ears it jus has something that The Metro amp does not have, but it’s just me.
Sounds great btw, I think this one is the best one yet to play the solo for Alright Now 🙂

Posted at 14:14h, 18 Septemberby “the best one yeat” I mean the combo of Marshall and the LP, and your gifted hands, ofcourse.

Posted at 14:16h, 18 SeptemberThanks for clarifying, but I think I knew what you meant. All of you who are here are always more than kind and ever most inspiring in your comments. So are you, Dave.

Posted at 14:15h, 18 SeptemberTo me it’s the additional drive it has that makes the difference. This is why I asked George Metropoulos for another head with more drive. Also, I was saying, kid permitting tomorrow I am going to shoot another little video with the Klon in front of the Metro, to “kick it” further in drive. I am curious to see if it works or not.

Posted at 13:54h, 18 SeptemberI have to admit that I was skeptical when you said your metro amp was better than the marshall but now I understand. The metro has something extra that I just can’t describe but I think it’s a noticable difference.

I would say that the bray is more “acid”. Stiffer.
The Metro is ballsier, more controls sensitive, warmer. I can imagine the Metro with a tad more drive: fantastic. Next attempt I may try tomorrow at lower volume here – and record it – is with a Klon box in front of it to add more drive, boosting the channel

Posted at 12:59h, 18 SeptemberI definitely like the sound of this set up. Very great detail coming through. That guitar looks simply amazing!

Posted at 13:03h, 18 SeptemberThanks mate. I like it too, though I prefer George’s amp. This one has a plus for me, that being, slightly more drive, as modified by Bray for me. It makes it easier for me to play, as my guitars – the old ones – have all kind of weak PUs. This one has real ’50s PAFs, measured bridge 7.4 and neck 7.2
BTW I LOVE this guitar.
