Shame that the reissues Marshall makes can’t sound like this stock, that you have to modify them or get from replica manufacturers like Metro to obtain this raw Plexi sound.. It’s a shame imo , but i guess it’s about how good it would sell, and Marshall is an company trying to earn money, so priority how Plexi reissues sound exactly is probubly not the first thing they think off, that’s where replica manufacturers come into the pictures, but still.. It would indeed be nice to hear an reissue sounding like this stock but sadly they dont.

I think i’ll scrap the idea of buying an Jubilee Silver 2550 and instead buys an VoS SG reissue OR, i buy the Jubilee and sells it for a slightly higher price than what i will give for it, to make the VoS SG more affordable, not planning on keeping the Jubilee anyway, no point now when i heard this amp, cause the Jubilee is a FART compared to this amp imo πŸ™‚

I can allways buy an amp like the Metro one later when i have money πŸ™‚

Hey Fil, sounds great, any particular reason you were tuned up a half step, or was it a post production thing?

I dont mean to sound mean, and I know its only because Fil really feels it, but if all you saw of this video was the neck up without sound, you would think he was being stabbed repeatedly with a knife. Im not knocking Fil, cuz ive been know to do it too, but it always makes me laugh.

Not only I was “feeling it”, but the volume in there was so LOUD that every touch on the guitars made me jump. I was COMPLETELY IN IT. I was part of the sound (that shattered my body, on front of the cab)!
It’s really an amazing feeling. It was how they used to be right then in the late ’60s and during the ’70s. This is exactly why I am doing this: to feel it again and to show what it meant.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I dont know if you’ve ever seen that interview with Angus, talking about how he bends strings. He says, “Most guys just bend it up like this” and bends a string and its nothing really special. Then he says “but for me I kinda gotta scrunch up and knock my knees together” and bends another one like that and the note is just ON FIRE. So yeah, I dont doubt it makes all the difference for you.

    Hey Fil! πŸ™‚
    Amazing amp!
Really smooth (when compared to the 1987x – it was…. maybe a bit too fuzzy or something…. I don’t know how to describe….) This one is… well… PERFECT XD

Just a little question…. (If you allow me to ask)…. How long did it take until the amp was ready to be shipped to you?

You have a good ear (and I am not surprised).
Yes, the Metro is in another class. Reissue Marshalls do have a few things that are quite not on par with what the original models used to be. I think it took 2 months to get the amp ready. Reason is, George (Metropoulos) is always building a few!

Ceriatone does well too. I’ve built allready a 18W, and just ordered a 50W JMP lead spec.
I hope this one will do the trick!

This amp sings! I gotta get a JTM50 in the future! lol
        Only 2 months? O.o
This is what I call a professional work.

I ordered myself a Plexi clone (#1987) back in january. It’s a Brazilian boutique brand called “Tubeamps”. It was supposed to be ready on April… And here I am 9 months later without the amp… I’m seriously starting to regret this deal… I just hope it’ll be “decent”.

Some brands offer a kit too. If you have a little bit soldering and electrics experience, its easy, much cheaper and a lot faster to build it by yourself.

          Have fun with it !

This is a good question: I MUST add the info up there: presence 0 (except on the woman tone, where I put it at 10), bass ranged from 3 to 8 (I changed it from time to time), treble 10, mids 10, volume 8 to 10, normal channel volume 0)

What pickups have Angus used in the past, and have they been modified or mainly stock? These sounds so fucking great i have to listen to it many times and STILL can’t i get enought of it, WOW!

Angus used basically every possible pickup made.
He used the original ttops that came in his late ’60s SGs, then switched to PAFs, patent numbers and custom made pickups for him.

How are these pickups compared to the other SGs pickup you have on the SGs? These sounds killer!

What do pickups like this cost? πŸ™‚
